Hey I'm back!
Can't bleive it's August last year since I was here last!
Well the brouhaha died sownand I only occasionally get asked "Oh so you're still here?"
WEll to catch you up on everyone..........Ben,the 3d artist,si now qualified and at home looking for work.....since xmas..........he gets lots of positive feedback for his work, but no job offers.BAH.
Gemma left school after year 11 but not to work, she jsut found the wholke thing really stressful with her neck and shoulder still playing up from the car accident. So she's just doing part time hairdressing beginning course at tafe for the moment(thats all there is for girls in this country town)
But,she will be opening her own little store shortly ,selling jewelry,Indian artifacts, you know bells and elephants and incense etc and all the unusual things she can find cheap at wholesale.
Danny is still the muso, playing bass.He had a lucky escape at xmas when they played Carols in the park and a huge tree fell on them all.He was uninjured and ended up with new equipment .
this year he hasn't been able to play rugby league,as we didn't have enough players for an A grade and 18's side,so my forays into the countryside on freezing Sunday mornings are no more.He surprised us and won the 100m,200m,long jump, shot put and second in javelin which made him under 16 age champion. So now he goes to regionals, and I couldn't say no when he asked me for a pair of sprints....could I?so $100 later, lets hope it helps him win at the regionals! He's impressed with his own performance i the long jump,so he's going all out on that one he says LOL
Now about me and hubby. We are taking the plunge and going in to business. We are opening an art gallery called....Colorful Pieces .our town is slit into two parts..twin towns LOL the origianl part of the town murrumburrah is on one side of the creek, and lost out as the main part of town when they moved the railway to flatter ground in Harden over the bridge, which is where th main shops are now,but you have to turn a corner to get to it,and most people drive past.So our shop is in the murrumburrah part of town as it is on the highway. There are a few little"boutique"shops open there now and it's getting a lot of tourists,so we decided to try our luck.so we are busy painting and cleaning(well Les is ,i still have arthritis) and organising stock and paper work etc.Gemma is coming in with us ,we have given her a corner of our shop, but we may ending up taking the adjoining small shop for her and pinching a bit of her wall space................
Thats about it..............Oh! my dad got married ,it's amazing what you can find in the catholic weekly!!
I didn't go to the wedding, they only met sept last year, mum only died jan last year ,I just didn't feel up to it.Too far to travel while unwell was my excuse.
So thats 9 months in a nutshell...............and you guys thought it was a baby LOL ................oh thats right, you all know about my hyster LOL
cheers everyone, hope to get round and find all your blogs again, you'll know when I've found you,I'll leave a comment.
Our television debut was interesting. our 2 hour interview was reduced to............monosyllibles LOL It was hilarious, we looked like we put no thought into what, where or why we moved and when they did the map showing where we'd been it was funny. As was Danny's answer to "what happens at night in Harden? It gets dark ........and the moon comes up."They then showed an empty street with the sun fading over the pub. They showed us in a seemingly empty main street saying the town was boring.
then the next morning................. we had to explain ourselves to everyone in town it seemed, Harden looked bad, like a ghost town, we should have promoted it better blah blah.........there was a letter to the editor in the local paper, saying the town should get ACA back again to show what the town is really like, more to offer than hosues under 100,000, and should attract better nicer people to the town.......there is a farewell card at the newsagent.........it's incredible the critisism we recieved,so I wrote my own letter to the editor to explain that we didn't invite them, they asked us, we asked them not to bag the town, and that 99.9% of what we said including the nice stuff was edited out.so we will see what happens after the letter.
other than that little hiccup, nothing new.same ole same ole .........nearly finished the rnovations, we should have an inside loo by the end of winter.yes read that sentence back lol for the moment if nature calls thru the night it's -3 outside........brrrr
hey I finally have something to blog about.
For all the aussies here, be watching A Current Affair this week.Look for the story on Sea/Tree changes. Me and my family are in it!
I recieved a letter from their producer who had written an email adressed to Rapunzel , which is the name I use on a lot of sites.Apparantly one of my blurbs caught his eye and they contacted me.
It is going to be hilarious , we have really sent our selves up.As you all knw we have had 6 BIG and when we leave here it will be 7.They had us packing up the car to the gills, carrying odd items out to the car, driving up and down the road, interviewed the kids in the main street, much to our tiny towns shock lol
We had to stand in front of one of those signposts that have signs stickout to everywhere, looking at a map and trying to pick somewhere to move to(the car is already packed )
It was a lot of fun and I can't wait to see it put together. 2 hours last night and 5 hours today will be whittled down to about 2 and a half minutes....Incredible.
I am having trouble figuring out this new site.I tried putting a reallly nice background but kept gettign double and triples of the page when I started to fiddle with the HTML,so I have a standard.
I have lost everyones url ....bahhhh...............all my favorites are gone.
Leave your url and I will add a link to you from here.
all is going well.Les had his kidney stones smashed and had a rough few days, but is fine now. Kids are all good.Ben ahs moved into his new homestay iwth justin. Gemma is learning to drive......... and Dan is a year older
cheers all
I seem to be spending my life in the car again.Last weekend I went to canberra twice, drove to wagga wagga for football, went to look at land at Temora........and today back out to Junee for footy....ahhh home game tomorrow, hope its in the afternoon..................zzzzz
I have found a homestay for Ben and Justin. It means two buses to get to School but the family is really nice. The mum has 2 at home a 22yr old male uni student who lives in the house and a 25 yr old dauhgter who lives in a flat out the back. The hubby comes from the UK originally and has a wicked sense of humor and even if he does follow soccer instead of league he's ok LOL He's already volunteered the boys to get up on the roof and tale down the tiles as hes scared of heights LOL
Gemma passed the test to get her L's so I took her out for her first lesson on a quiet road. She doesn't like that I hang on to the door handle and use the brake Pedal I don't ahve........then she went out with her dad.............he over explains everything and has her even more stressed LOL I think she'll be paying people soon...........
oooooh Ben his first date next thursday, Justin set him up with a girl he met on the bus.....he must be a giant flirt thats how he met his own girlfriend LOL all for are going to see xmen3.
well must do dinner, its getting to be that time..my turn to cook.......hmmm pizza it is LOL
Grrr rrr I went to pick up Ben today from Canberra. He has lived in this room (3 others too)under a house for over 12 months, when it was just guys, and even different girls, there was no problem, no fights, no picking about whos turn to do what etc. Now........2 girls later and I'm looking for somewhere else for him to board.
They have been busy complaining that he leaves dishes in the sink, won't take the garbage bin up the hill, doesn't want to take a turn bringing firewood in etc etc.
I asked the landlady could Bens friend justin move in to the empty room.........well, the girls don't like him, he left dirty cups in the lounge room and didnt wash them up till the next day. so then I get a list of complaints against Ben....OMG I said to her that while the boys were there there was no complaints, she says now there was, so why didn't Ben hear about it then?? or myself??? arrrrgh Her friends 25 year old daughter is one of the girls staying, what ever she says is apparantly gospel truth. She is about 25 and the other woman is older than I am and doing uni, only stays there a few days as she lives another half hour past us.They have decided since they moved in that Ben must play happy families and there is a chore list and dinner talk and crap like that. He spends most of the time working in his room and they cant handle it, they think he has an attitude.
The girls had gone into their rooms as I pulled up, I don't know why, but they were busy listening at their doors while I was talking to the landlady. I pointed out a few things within their hearing,so when Ben wet back inside to grab soemthing he forgot, they pounced.....How dare he get his mother to stir up shit in this house......the older lady called him a wimp........He didn't tell me this until we were up the street aways, other wise...........................
I didn't mean to stir anything up, all I wanted to know was could justin have the spare room, and if not then she would have two empty rooms, I certainly didn't expect her to tell me Ben was poorly brought up and a health hazard, because that is what she was trying to tell me and I am babying him by letting him get away with not washing up immediately after eating.Oh and the older woman is moving out because of Bens attitude, when i scoffed at that, she said oh yes she does have some other problems.
I told her that Ben would never dump someones washing up in front of their door, would not scream in anyones face and would not be rude enough to pull out the phone cord while they were on the phone or the internet. These things have all be done to him, they think its ok, because they have the moral high road.
The younger girl smokes pot every night, unbeknowst to the landlady............I will be letting her know this the day he leaves, she is too volatile to report it while he is still there.
I understand that Ben has to wash up after himself and be considerate of the others, I don't understand why it is alwasy his job to take up the bin, or empty a dishwasher he doesnt use,or bring in wood for a fire he is not in the room to enjoy or when he has the fan on as he is too hot LOL
So we are off to see 2 rooms in a family stay home, a bit further from the city but the woman sounds so accomadating, she even does their washing.
